School tours are for Grades 3-8.

  • Students will have an opportunity to recognize milk’s role in healthy living by analyzing essential nutrients found in milk and their functions in maintaining a healthy body. They will also learn how milk is processed into dairy products for consumers. This year again, we will have a robotic milker on site to show how many farms are milking their cows and how it improves their welfare.

  • Where do bacon, ribs, soap, and over 180 other products come from? From pigs raised on farms across Ontario! Students will learn about the different cuts of meat, what products are made from pigs, and they will get to see pigs up close in the pig mobile!

  • Students will learn the various beef by-products we use daily. What they are eating and purchasing at the supermarket, the differences in a cow/calf vs a feedlot market cattle operation, and the different breeds of cattle within North America.

  • Corn, Beans, and Wheat….. what part do these grains play in our life? From food on the table, feed to the livestock, or the fuel in our cars, many of these grains are grown right here in Middlesex County. Students will learn all about the way we use these grains and how they are grown.

  • Students will have an opportunity to understand egg production and the care that Ontario Egg Farmers provide their hens. They will also learn how eggs are collected, graded and delivered farm fresh to grocery stores within 3 to 7 days. Students will also explore the nutritional benefits of eating eggs.

  • Students will explore the entire food system with Growing Chefs! Ontario. We’ll explore each step of the food system from farm to table, with special emphasis on how food is grown and how food scraps can be turned into worm compost. We’ll have interactive displays and knowledgeable staff to guide students through the exciting journey that is the food system!
